We are looking for an experienced and motivated Senior Accountant to support a growing organization in the government contracting space. This role is instrumental in maintaining the financial integrity of the company, ensuring accurate financial reporting, strong internal controls, and full compliance with GAAP, CAS, and FAR standards.
The ideal candidate will be comfortable operating in a fast-paced environment, managing compliance efforts (including DCAA), leading audits, and supporting ongoing financial operations. A strong emphasis is placed on building cross-functional relationships and communicating financial information effectively across all levels of the organization.
Key Responsibilities:

Ensure deliverables are timely and compliant with internal policies, GAAP, CAS, and FAR.

Prepare and interpret monthly financial statements and supplemental reports for senior leadership.

Apply advanced accounting principles across AP, AR, billing, payroll, revenue recognition, fixed assets, and general ledger functions.

Support ASC 606 compliance and associated revenue accounting calculations.

Leverage Deltek Costpoint (or similar systems) for financial planning, reporting, and compliance.

Lead coordination and support for internal and external audits, including DCAA.

Maintain accurate balance sheets and oversee cash management, forecasting, and reconciliations.

Serve as a key contact for auditors and internal stakeholders, ensuring timely responses and deliverables.

Assist in developing indirect rate structures, budgets, forecasts, incurred cost submissions, and other key financial documents.

Conduct in-depth analysis on revenue recognition, receivables, and unbilled revenue.

Identify and implement improvements to financial processes and internal controls.

Support the preparation of all federal and state tax filings, extensions, and payments.

Take ownership of special projects and provide insights into revenue enhancement and cost-saving opportunities.
Required Qualifications:

U.S. Citizenship required

Minimum of 5 years of progressive accounting experience in general ledger, job costing, and GAAP compliance

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting; CPA preferred

Familiarity with banking transactions and financial forecasting

Proficiency in Deltek Costpoint or comparable government-approved ERP systems

Strong Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel

Ability to analyze complex financial data and communicate findings to non-financial stakeholders

Strong attention to detail, organization, and discretion

Ability to manage shifting priorities and work collaboratively across teams
Preferred Qualifications:

5+ years of experience in accounting roles within the government contracting or defense industry

MBA is a plus
